It seems like finally something may go right for the Jets. Denzel Mims will miss the game on Sunday as the Jets head out west to take on the Seahawks.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that Adam Gase has ruled Mims out for the game on Sunday.
Mims will miss the game because he won’t make it back in time to be checked under COVID-19 protocols. He is in Texas, dealing with a family emergency.
First and foremost, let’s hope that Mims’ emergency is dealt with, and his family comes out of it okay, whatever it is.
However, from an organizational and fan standpoint, this team seems to be “cursed.” The phrase “Same old Jets” always seems to be on the minds of everyone. Nothing ever seems to go right for the franchise. Whether it’s internal mistakes or just blunders, the franchise has always seemed to be on the bad end.
This will be the Jets’ 10th consecutive season missing the playoffs, while being so tantalizingly close in 2015. Mims missing the game could be an aid to helping the Jets inch ever closer to the No. 1 pick, and finally getting a franchise quarterback.
With the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck sitting there, fans are dreaming of the No. 1 pick. Imagine finally having the quarterback to replace Namath. It’s been a long time coming.
The team gave the Jets a scare before a dubious call by Gregg Williams cost them the game and him his job.
The Jets are currently losing the tiebreaker for the No. 1 pick to the Jaguars. So, they will likely have to finish behind them in the standings to get the pick. Losing Mims for the game only helps facilitate this. Maybe it’s time to shed the “Same old Jets” label for good.
