Current New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas deserves no blame for the failures of the Jets in 2020.
This may sound like a ludicrous thought regarding a general manager of a sports franchise. Douglas only got one wide receiver in the draft. In addition, he failed to sign top free agents at crucial positions. Finally, players he let go are performing well elsewhere.
Even though you can say he failed in those aspects of his job, Douglas should shoulder zero blame for the 2020 failures.
In the latest Bleav in Jets, we look at where the New York Jets came from and why:
- The length of his GM contract
- The timing of his hire
- The organizational structure
- Did the organization know more than they let on to the media about pending free agents? (See NY Daily News Article by Manish Mehta)
- Why keeping Adam Gase is worse than imagined
