Week 1: MNF Special

For the kids keeping track at home, Sunday did not go very well for yours truly. The Packers, Bills, Ravens, Seahawks and Arizona definitely helped mitigate my losses, but it was overall a losing week.

For those of you that are new to gambling, there’s two ways you can track my success/failure. First way is overall record, which I was 18-20-1 this weekend. That is just a strict hit or miss, not weighted with the odds. The second way is by units. Think of a unit as a non-descript amount that you’re betting. For explanations sake, let’s say you put $1 on every single one of my picks as an individual straight bet, for the weekend I was -5.61 units, which would mean you lost $5.61

I am going to start keeping a running tally of my weekly picks both on just a straight up record basis as well as units.

Week 1 as of 9/14:

Record: 18-20-1

Units: -5.61

*Below MNF lines based on Bovada 9/14/2020*

Spread: Steelers -6 (-115)

Money line: Steelers -250, Giants +210

O/U: 45

Big Ben is back and the Steelers defense is much improved, but the Steelers are an odd team gambling wise. The last 3 years they are a total of 24-24-1 against the spread including playoffs with the under hitting in 30 of 49 games. Although I would say it’s a safe bet the Steelers win, they tend to start off the season playing down to competition with bad showings against Cleveland in 2017 and 2018 and that blowout loss in NE last year.

PICKS: Giants +6 (-105), Steelers ML, Under 45

Spread: Titans -3 (-115)

Money line: Titans -160, Broncos +140

O/U: 41

Vegas has this as a close defensive struggle. Titans are all about ball control with Derrick Henry and newly extended game manager Ryan Tannehill, but I look for Drew Lock and the newly revitalized Broncos offense to put up some serious points. Coutrland Sutton is still questionable as of me writing this, but new weapons Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler are healthy, Melvin Gordon is an interesting addition to the backfield and I think Noah Fant could be a huge help.  I look for the Broncos to win, and for the over to hit here.

PICKS: Broncos +3 (-105), Broncos ML, Over 41

I will have my TNF pick as well as some bonus college action up Wednesday, you only lose in gambling if you quit, so let’s hope things turn around.
