2019 Record (13-3)
Take a look at some of the leaders and accomplishments from the Saints squad from last year.
Michael Thomas – 1725 rec yds… Alvin Kamara – 1330 yards from scrimmage… Defending NFC South Champions, and of course… A Hall of Famer at QB, a.k.a. Drew Brees.
Add the 9th easiest schedule to that resume and you have enough reasons for the Who Dat nation be optimistic about the soon to start season. That is fair enough, but let’s try to dive a little deeper to access how the road is going to show up for the New Orleans Saints and what bumps the team may find.
The first and obvious one doesn’t play in any NFL team, it’s COVID-19. Every NFL team had to readjust their training schedule, and the coaching staffs had to rely on every player creativity to stay in shape during the Offseason, not having actual live action without the preseason doesn’t help either, every new scheme and trick plays must tested on fire against maybe the first bump on the Saints road:
Versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sun, 9/13 4:25 PM
What many fans used to mark as a sure “W” on the schedule turned a little more of a head scratcher since March, 20, The Buccaneers (7-9) signed Tom Brady which was expected to lead to a flood of good talent to add to an already talented group.
Rob Gronkowski and now Leonard Fournette are going to share offense meetings with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and O. J. Howard.
As mentioned before, the lack of chemistry may play a big role in this first game but things should turn a little more interesting come on their second battle on 11/8.
Versus Green Bay Packers – Sun, 9/27 7:20 PM
Aaron Rodgers another elite quarterback will come to Superdome, but you can’t say the Packers have had the best off-season of all time. With no first page signings in the off-season and a draft, at least, focused on the near future, Green Bay GM Brian Gutekunst and Co. has done very little to help the Future HOF to get his second SB ring, so continuity is the word in Green Bay.
Versus Kansas City Chiefs – Sun, 12/20
I bet every Saints fan hope this is not a must win game. Somehow the Super Bowl LIV champions managed to keep every SB star and also give a gigantic extension worth more than half a billion dollars to their starting QB, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will enter the Superdome looking to write another chapter to their dynasty project, tough match folks.
